TV Series Obsession!

This week, I am going to write about a series that has been over for quite some time now. Battlestar Galactica! It's fourth and final season was aired on 2009, and why am I writing about such an outdated series you ask? Well, for one thing, there is going to be a second spin-off series- Battlestar Galactica -Blood & Chrome- to be aired next month and secondly, no matter how old it is, if it's intriguing and exciting, why not watch it, right? ;) So, finish watching all the previous episodes of Battlestar Galactica before the new sibling series starts! Here's your guide as how to watch it! ::D

Well, firstly, there was an original TV series, a sequel and adapted books, games and such back in the 80's, but let's not go back that far, shall we? Sticking to the 21st century, a remake of Battlestar Galactica was aired in December 2003 and that;s where we are going to start! :D

So before you start watching the first episode of the first series, if you want to understand what is happening, make sure you watch the two-part, three hour mini-series of it!

Battlestar Galactica in alll it's glory!

Backdoor Pilot episodes of the mini-series:
From the ancestral world f Kobol, a human civilisation migrates to a series of planets known as the Twelve Colonies. But the Twelve Colonies were at war with the advance forms of robots known as Cylons. Some Cylons are so advanced that they take the shape of humans and live with humans, without being detected, their goal being to exterminate the whole of human civilisation! A famous scientist, Gaius Baltar is seduced by a Cylon he fell in love with, namely Number Six, and aids  her to bring about the destruction of the Twelve Colonies with the help of a surprise nuclear attack. Most of the human population was wiped off, and almost all the battleships of the Colonial fleet were rendered useless or destroyed due to a computer malware introduced by Six. It's technologies being a bit old fashioned, Battlestar Galactica was the only battleship that survived the malware. Commander William Adama of Battlestar Galactica assumes control over the human fleets. Secretary of Education, Laura Roslin (43rd in line of succession!) is sworn as the president of the Twelve Colonies because the President and everyone who had a bigger chance of being the President were killed in the nuclear attack. The starship that she travels in is Colonial One.

Important Female characters

Only a few of the ships had the ability to complete Faster-Than-Light (FTL) jumps and so Roslin is forced to abandon those ships that didn't have this ability and meet Commander Bill Adama at the rendezvous point, Ragnar Anchorage. There, an arms-dealer suffers from the radiation, while the humans aren't affected at all. This leads Bill Adama to the conclusion that he must be a Cylon, and humans came to know of the existence of the new model of Cylons that look and feel the same as humans. Gaius Baltar is appinted as one of the senior advisors to President Roslin, since nobody was aware of Baltar's treason.

Baltar has visions of Six and eventhough he isn't sure how he was getting these visions, Six had indicated that she might have implanted a microchip in his brain while he was asleep, which lets her transmit her image to Baltar. She suggested to him that Aaron Doral, a public relations specialist might also be a Cylon. When Baltar informs this, Doral is left stranded on Ragnar when Galactica left, despite the lack of evidence to prove that Doral is indeed a Cylon.

Cylons attack Ragnar and the Colonial Fleet jumps to a faraway, unexplored area in the galaxy. Commander Adama tells the fleet that they know the way to the Thirteenth Colony, Earth. However he is forced to admit to the President privately that he just announced that to boost up morale, and they had no idea where to go to next.

Doral's identity as a Cylon is confirmed as a group of Cylons that include the metal Cylon Centurions, multiple copies of Six, Doral and the arms-dealer go to Ragnar to retrieve him. At the end of the two part mini series, a Colonial fighter aboard Galactica, Sharon Valerie (call-sign) Boomer is shown to be a Cylon as well, as a copy of her is included in the Cylon group that went to Ragnar.

Well, that's all I'm going to tell you, because, if you haven't already watched it, giving a season by season account would be a total spoiler! ;)

Watch Battlestar Galactica to see if the human race survived and reached Earth as they were hoping to, or did all of the human population just die in the every 33rd minute attack by the Cylons! Happy Watching! :D
