13th Day!

A letter to someone who has hurt you recently:

Let me start by saying, I am not a hater by nature. I always see the good in people, (call me naive!) which is why I get so hurt and disappointed when someone betrays me. I don't know whether it's just that I am lucky or that my attitude towards life is good, but I don't have any one who I hate, just because they did something to hurt me.

Don't get me wrong, I did have my share of heartbreaks, cheaters, betrayals, let downs and bad luck. But since I don't waste my time and energy on being emotional over those negative things, I don't feel anything about those things. I guess I am good at moving on! :D

Sometimes some one tells me that people talked this or that about me, (very rarely! Around two or three times as far as I can remember! I try not to give people opportunities to talk bad stuff about me. I am usually nice and friendly to every one in general, but like they say, "you can't zip people up", "you can't keep everyone happy", "you can't make everyone like you!") but I don't give a second thought to that. I just have better things to do than try to defend myself infront of people who would judge me anyway~! :)

I guess what I am trying to say here is, I don't remember being hurt recently. For the past year, I have been in a stable relationship (no cheating from him!), I have friends and family who love me so much (no betrayals there!) and my life is beautiful! Sure it has it has it's ups and downs, but I do not remember any downs, because I don't concentrateon the bad stuff! So all in all, I am truly blessed and my life is awesome! Al hamdhulillahi! And I don not have anything to say to anybody who hurt me in the past because, honestly, "people change, people grow!" Even if they hurt you before, they might be regretting it now and forgiving makes you powerful! :)

Peace!

Bippity Boppity Boo! :D

I know, it's a weird title for a post! Well, this is just a random post, not connected or linked to any other post. So I was thinking of a random word to enhance the randomness of this post, and this was the first thing that came to my mind! Yeah, I AM a huge believer in fairytales ;) Like they say, you gotta dream it to achieve it! :D

Firstly, here's a little magic for all the wonderful readers, for being so awesome! We can all use some magic in our lives! :D

This is just to thank all my readers for your support, comments and suggestions. Your feedback is what inspires me! :D And I'm thanking you today specially because for the first time a post of mine has gotten more than 100 viewers and on last count, it has 180 views. Also, I had a count of 150 page views yesterday! It might not be a huge deal for the regular bloggers, but since I'm a total newbie here, and it has been exactly 1 month and 16 days since I started blogging, it means a lot to me~!

So once again, Thank You! And let me remind you again that I am so looking forward for your input on how to make my posts better! Much Love~! :D

Amazing 2012

I was all for leaving to Australia in Jan 2012 to study MBBS. But then, I decided to wait another year. What ever my reasons were back then, I am glad I made the decision to stay. People might say I'm wasting my time in Fuvahmulah when I could have started MBBS, but I disagree. I am so totally NOT!! I DO NOT regret my decision to wait in Fuvahmulah one more year. Remember how people say "Everything happens for a reason"? This is one of those times when I can say, "Yeah, whoever said it was right on!"

So, Why?

Well, Firstly, if I hadn't stayed here, I wouldn't have met Raid, who is my Mr.Right! OK, maybe I might have met him, but I surely would be too busy to actually see that he is everything I want and more, and even if we did go into a relationship, we wouldn't have had all the awesome times we had together (like the fishing trip, the family picnics, the B'day surprises, the Hulhumale' trips, the dates, the Anniversary celebrations, the dinners, the walks, the rides!). None of that would have been possible if I were in Australia.

Next, I wouldn't have gotten to see my baby sister grow up, learn to walk and talk, hear her call me Shinau, teach her to say I miss you, teach her to sing, and feel proud every time she learns a new word. If I were in Australia, I would be just some one she saw on Skype, and she wouldn't know I was her Dhahthi who loves her more than my own life. But now that she is old enough to remember me, I feel sure that she would remember all the good times we had together when she sees me on Skype, or atleast recognise me as her sis!
Moving the sofa, like a boss!

Wearing dad's shoes! :D

Pushing the trolley at the airport.

Love her expression! Never fails to bring a smile to my face!
Also, I wouldn't have been able to work at the  Atoll Hospital and see how things worked there if I had left in January. Even if it was just as a volunteer, I did get to work at the hospital and see for myself the working environment to expect when I come back. I did get a feel of the enormity of the job to be done.

Moreover, I got to go to London because I stayed!! That's right! London! Now how can you regret staying, when staying gave you that once-in-a-lifetime opportunity? ;)  It was a chance given by Democracy House, and it was as wonderful as it sounds. I hope to blog about it under "travels" label, after I'm done with writing about Singapore.
In Leicester Square or Piccadilly Circus. Can;t remember exactly where!

That's right! The Diamond Jubilee Glass Window presented to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth  by the Houses of parliament.

From the far left corner you can see the London Eye and directly behind us is The Big Ben! :D
Oh yeah, this is all the people who went with me to the memorable trip!

And then they stood at the foot of the Big Ben! :3

At the Chinese "gate" kinda thingy

A hilarious attempt to imitate the statues. Love Shaha's expression!  :)

The awesome Us jumping near Big Ben in our very official suits ;)
And yes, I even got to go to Singapore because I stayed! I had to sit UMAT exam and therefore I went on an all-expense paid trip to Singapore and had an awesome time there as well. I write about it under the "travels" label, every Monday, so if you are interested in knowing more about it, go ahead and read my blog posts with the title YourSingapore (the promotion slogan of Singapore!).
Crappy quality I know. But these were the few pictures that I didn't lose because I took them from my  not -so-awesome phone I had back then.

Such a HUGE crown!

In addition, I got to work at the Secretariat of the Fuvahmulah Atoll Council as an employee of Department of National Planning. I got awesome friends in Male', Addu, Thinadhoo and Kulhudhuhfushi and Fuvahmulah as my colleagues. I even started liking the statistics and things related to that. Now I play a major role in the preparation for 2014 Census of The Maldives, by being in charge of Census Map Updating, House listing for Economic Survey and Census and the information gathering regarding the key indicators of development.
All of this has given me new insights into the statistical condition of Maldives, broaden my horizon and opened my eyes to a whole lot of things I was blind to  before! In a nutshell, working at the Secretariat of the Fuvahmulah Atoll Council has been very character building ;)

Anys, Tina, Niyaf, Naani, Nabeeh and Vifsha; Colleagues (and my bosses) in Male'

Azu & Rafa; kinda like our supervisors in Male' ;)

Juu, Addu

Shahyd in Male' DNP
Colleagues at The Secretariat of the Fuvahmulah Atoll Council (the best people to work with! <3)
And, I got the chance to attend the Prize Day ceremony of the school I attended for 12 whole years, and be there myself to collect the prizes for being the Best All Round student from A'level. That is the first time in the history of GNAEC that one person got Best All Round twice from the school (I got Best All Round even when I finished gr 10) (Oh yeah, I'm proud, mostly because others are proud of me! ;)), and that was one of the best nights of my life because I fulfilled the dream of my Dad twice that night, and I got to go to the school that I miss so much and meet some of my school mates and teachers!
Raid, My Dad, Raid's Dad, Mausooma Miss, Me, Sadhu, Mom, Shiakko, Riu, Afith and at the front, Shirukko

Further, because I stayed, I got the chance to visit and say goodbye to everyone that matters to me before I leave for one whole year (I've never been away from home for that long before, even though I do take off to Male' every now and then! ;) ) and leave a good impression of myself with them. I got the chance to give my parents some money before I left as well.

So, all in all, never for one moment did I regret waiting one more year before I went to study MBBS, because 2012 has been the best year of my life so far!

After the "Happily ever after!"

I already wrote down how my fairytale began. I saw from this troll page the following phrase (or atleast something similar), "fairytales tell us up until they get together. What does actually happen after the "happily ever after"? ".

Well, here's what happened in my story ;)

He calls me every morning just after he wakes up, he calls me every night before he sleeps. He calls me whenever I give him a miss call (unless he is extremely busy), and his texts are so sweet.

He keeps reminding me of how much he loves me and how lucky he is to have me ( I keep reminding him that I'm the lucky one, but he doesn't agree, which is fun! ;) ). He stops everything he is doing and gives me his full attention if I tell him I want to talk with him or to him about something serious.

He teases me (lovingly, ofcourse!) and he wrestles with me. He lets me punch him and disturb him when he is trying to sleep (without ever getting angry!). He teaches me IT and software and all the other stuff I know nothing about.

He supports me in whatever I am doing, helping me with the work load. He spends most of his time with me, and if he senses that I am unhappy, he will try everything he can to make me happy (and he ALWAYS succeeds!). He talks with me if I call him, even if he is with his friends!

He is always coming up with new ways to make me feel special, to make me feel loved. And no matter how many times I call him, even when he is busy, he doesn't get annoyed! Infact, he welcomes it, telling me that he feels really loved when I keep calling him when he is busy! :D

He keeps asking me what the matter is until I tell him what's bothering me, and then he tries to make me feel better about it!

I have written a lot about him, but this is just the tip of the iceberg. I could go on and on about how sweet he is, how great he is and how caring and understanding he is, but I should probably stop now. Ofocourse he is a human being and he isn't perfect. But he IS perfect for me, because he is everything I ever wanted and more! I honestly couldn't have asked for better. Even after almost 11 months, it still feels like the 1st days, I still am that crazy or more accurately, crazier about him, and he still treats me as good as he did before!

He is a teacher to me, a companion. He is a lover to me, and a friend. He is a listener and an adviser. He is everything rolled into one, the perfect life partner. He treats me like I'm his princess and he is proud of it! I know I am extremely lucky to have him by my side and I am forever grateful for that.

And that, my dear friends, is the story after the curtain's fallen, for me! :D

Once upon a time!

Since I am totally new here and you might not know me that well, I think it's best to write about myself and the community I'm in, with the people around me, so that when I write about other things like the issues in our community that I'm concerned with, you would have a better understanding of the situation.

So tonight I want to write about a very special person in my life. I know I haven't even mentioned him in my previous posts but that is because I was thinking of writing one big post about him, and just him. ;)

He knew me ever since I was a young girl. He recalls me as this small girl  with two braids. It's funny how he remembers me at such a young age because I have no recollection of him except for this one time when we debated together, and I was about 13 then. Ofcourse I knew he existed, because he was the older son of one of our teachers.

I chatted with him from facebook a long time back, maybe in 2008 or something (According to him! Again, I have no memories of those days, which I now find very weird. Now I'm like, I wish I knew back then that he would be this special to me, so that I can remember everything about him.) And then we chatted on and off, just two acquaintances finding out what's up and how life is.

The first memory I have of chatting with him is when I was an A'level Chemistry teacher at GNAEC last year. (I accepted the post as a special favour to the Principal, the day after my graduation, since it was such an honour.) I was in Male' and it was mid September. I had gone to Male' for two days to sit my IELTS exam. He was in Sri Lanka. When he knew that I was a teacher, he was teasing me about it, saying I'm a cheater :P He then asked me to go to Lanka and I told him that I wish I could and that was it.

Again, after some time, we chatted on facebook again. This time he told me that he was doing degree, Bachelor of (a mouthful, which I didn't really get :P)  something and that he had classes just on the weekends. I told him that I wished I could have classes like that, that it must be so easy for him. I actually asked him to switch places with me and let me go to college instead of him because I was just so bored of staying at home, doing nothing. Then he told me about all his Master's degree options and asked me what I think was the best one. I went through the list and realized to my dismay that I had no clue as to what any of them on the list was about, so I gave him the names of some programs that sounded kinda cool, but I did tell him that I actually had no idea what it was all about. He understood that I was just a very naive person who had no clue as to the horrors of the big cruel world :P

In January, I was heartbroken over a messy break up. I had lost my faith in himanity and all that is good. Mind you, I wasn't suicidal, but I was pretty down. He chatted with me and I chatted back. I put him in the friend zone because he never asked for more, and my heart was still under construction for me to think about another relationship. We talked and I felt OK. He gave me his LK number and I remember thinking, why should I bother remembering this number? It's not like I'm gonna call him from all the way here, and anyway, it's just soo long. But I remember that it had lots of 7s and 4s. Little did I know that that would be the first LK number that I would always remember ;)

Then came a blow that knocked me down so hard that I almost didn't want to get back up. I came to know that my most recent ex boyfriend, MR got back together with his ex girl friend and that everything that I thought we had between us was a lie. I so badly needed someone to talk to. It was then that I called him. Yes, all the way to Sri Lanka, I called him, twice. But later I came to know that he was sleeping. Then I was forced to call a less recent ex boyfriend of mine, MM who had been begging me to get back with him for a long time. We talked and I told him that if he wants me back, he will have to call me atleast once a day, that he shouldn't lose his temper with me at small things, and everything I learned from our relationship before. This time I knew what I wanted and I wasn't going to settle for less. I was lonely and depressed, I got back together with MM.

The next morning I told him what happened and how I was in a relationship with an ex, which was something I told myself I wouldn't do, and in the sunny morning, the action seemed so foolish. I was in a hard-to-please mode and it didn't help that he paid more attention to me than my own boyfriend did. He was always on the phone with me (via Skype) while my bf couldn't call me even once a day. He wrote me poems, deep ones. He dedicated songs to me, and every night he stayed with me on Skype till I fell asleep. Therefore it was no surprise to me that I realised my relationship was a mistake and that he should have been the one I was with.

I confronted my bf about the deal we had, about him paying more attention to me, but he couldn't hold up his end of the deal. When he hadn't called me even once for three consecutive days, I decided to break it off. "Another guy is begging for her attantion while you are ignoring her!" The phrase I saw from facebook stuck in my mind. I knew he was the "other" guy.

After I broke up with MM, I told him about it and he proposed to me, then and there. He made me happy, he treated me the way I wanted to be treated and he loved me. I saw no reason not to accept his proposal. Even though I didn't love him then, I did like him, a lot! And I knew that if we gave it time, I would fall for  him, so deeply, which I did ;) Well, the deciding factor was, I had a nightmare. I had fallen asleep with Skype video call on, and connected to him. When I woke up, I was so scared (yeah, that happens to me!). It was 2am, but I didn't know what else to do and I called him. I saw him on Skype, waking up when the phone rang. I told him I was so frightened. Then he got up, talked to me, on and on till I felt better, and he stayed awake till I fell asleep. Isn't that the sweetest? And when I told him the next morning that I felt bad about waking him up in the middle of the night, his reaction made me realise that I was the luckiest girl alive, to get such a caring, sweet guy. He made it sound like it was OK for me to call him any time, and told me that he would be there for me whenever I needed him, even if it was in the middle of the night. :D

So we went into a relationship. He called me his princess, (still does!), and he treated and still treats me like one. That was the beginning of my fairytale with my prince Charming, my story with my Mr.Right!

This is the part where I say, "And we lived happily ever after"! ( we still are living happily ;) )xD
